Acupuncture

Prestige Clinic

Acupuncture is an ancient healing therapy that originated in China nearly 5,000 years ago. The exact workings of this old natural art are still not well understood. Acupuncture and TCM (traditional Chinese medicine) have always considered the connection between mind and body to be inseparable. According to TMC, sadness, worry, anger, fear and joy are considered correlated to each of the five Yin organs of the body. Imbalances within these organs could be the origin of the unpleasant emotion, or the unpleasant emotion could injure the corresponding internal organ over time. Acupuncture is not only effective in treating emotional problems, it also addresses the physical realm.

Acupuncture treatments can use both body and auricular (ear) acupuncture. At Prestige Clinic, we focus on Auricular points. These semi-permanent needles covered with adhesive tape are left in place for 5-7 days. Using these semi-permanent needles can prolong the effects between treatments. The needles are very small, sterile and generally painless. These ear points can be easily stimulated by you using small magnets. The experience of having acupuncture is relaxing, pleasant and energizing.

Acupuncture for Anxiety

Anxiety disorders are the most common mental illness in America. More than 20 million American adults are affected by these debilitating disorders each year. It is common for an anxiety disorder to accompany depression, eating disorders, and substance abuse. Fortunately, acupuncture can help balance both the mental and physical manifestations of this condition. The needles create a state of relaxation during the treatment, allowing rest and healing of both mind and body

Acupuncture for Depression

Depression affects an estimated 21 million of Americans annually. In Chinese Medicine, depression is considered a problem of constraint. As your mood becomes low, the flow of energy within the body becomes depressed. Acupuncture treatment for depression will focus on circulating and balancing the flow of energy to relieve symptoms.

Acupuncture for Smoking

More than 45 million Americans smoke. Most smokers will attempt to quit several times before they finally stop smoking. When conventional methods such as the nicotine patch and gum fail, smokers often look outside the mainstream and turn to alternative medicine such as Acupuncture, which is a powerful method to quit smoking. Acupuncture treatments focus on reducing irritability, jitters and cravings and aids in relaxation and detoxification. When the points are stimulated, the body will release endorphins (natural pain relieving biochemical).

Acupuncture for Weight Loss

Excessive eating is sometimes a result of increased stress levels, depression, anxiety and other emotions. From a Western perspective, acupuncture has been shown to have an effect on the function of digestive system, food cravings, and metabolism. This can help control overeating, suppress the appetite and decrease anxiety.

Acupuncture points on the ears have been found to be particularly effective for weight loss. The semi-permanent needles can be gently massaged by you for 10-second intervals if cravings occur.
